Renovation Project Moving Forward
Homestead mayor, Roscoe Warren, pledged $1.7 million for the renovation of downtown Homestead's Seminole Cultural Arts Theatre at a fundraising event in December which featured writer/producer Shaun Cassidy. This in turn prompted the spirit of giving for some of the guests inspiring one downtown property owner to step up to the microphone and donate $25,000.
The event kicked off renewed effort by the Board of Directors to secure funding for capital development and to ensure that the Seminole Cultural Arts Theatre will once again be an integral part of social and cultural activity in the historic downtown area.
In May, The Homestead Center for the Arts honored Mayor Roscoe Warren for his support and leadership of the arts in our community. This venue is key to the rejuvenation of downtown Homestead's Art and Entertainment district. We are actively putting the pieces together to reach the finish line and provide this community with a much needed cultural boost, said Frank May, Seminole Cultural Arts Theatre Board President. Additional funding for the building will become available through grants and financial support from the public and private sectors. The Board pledges to put in place an endowment fund to defray the cost of operations as well as an enhancement for programming, development and foundation support for the Theatre's future. |
