The Main Street Report
Homestead Main Street has been busy building back its membership by encouraging new business owners in the area to come on board, and welcoming back former members. Last month we received twenty memberships.

To introduce old and new members, we have a series of bi-monthly Business Card Exchange nights where business owners come together for an evening of wine and cheese and catch up on downtown news.
Main Street also has had a series of special call meetings where members get presentations form city projects that are going to affect the downtown district. Scott Brand of Pistorino & Alam, Engineers, spoke to us about the Busway construction project, and Deborah Tackett came and spoke to us about the Commercial District Overylay Project. We are also staying involved on the City Hall relocation as well as the Losner Park expansion project, all vital issues that will have an enormous impact on downtown Homestead.

Finally, the events that have been scheduled for the past few months have brought people to Homestead's historic downtown. They have enjoyed: The South Florida Antique Car Show in January, Jazz Under the Stars in February, Sally in the Alley in March and the big event in April, the Purple Martin Bike Ride and Festival. A weekend of entertainment around town in May included The Air Force Reserve Jazz Band “The Blue Notes” performing in Losner Park.

So that's the scoop on Main Street. Yvonne Knowles
